Exploring The Brain

Draw Your Own Brain®, a hands-on workshop led by neuroscientist and behavioral trust expert Erik Schoppen. He invites you to explore how our brains and bodies are deeply connected to the natural world around us, and how this connection shapes the way we perceive and experience reality.

Understanding the Human Mind
After the session, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of how your mind works, how trust and emotions are formed, and a work that reflects your inner landscape.

Listening & Sketching

Journey through Evolution

Participants engage in sketching brain areas developed over time while listening to an intriguing story about the evolution of the human brain, starting 500 million years ago. You don't have to be a Picasso, we're sketching a schematic representation of the brain, shaped by our evolutional journey.

Creating Your Own Brain Map
The session culminates in the creation of your own hand-drawn ‘brain atlas’. A personal visual map filled with intuitive patterns and meaningful and practical insights.

Drawing Template to Explore
Human Decision-Making

In the human decision-making workshop it is possible to use a wooden drawing template that act as a tactile guide to understand how the human brain evolved, and how its different evolutionary layers influence the way we make decisions today. Participants use the template to outline key components, from the oldest parts that controls basic survival instincts, to the limbic system that drives emotions and social bonding, and finally to the neocortex, responsible for reasoning, planning, and reflection.

Learn from Trust in the Past
to (re)build Trust in the Future

Trust (in each other and in the future) is essential for change, connection, empathy and leadership. In his lectures, Erik Schoppen shows the integral functioning of trust inside and outside the brain, and how, with the right emotions and motivations, to build future-proof trust to sustainably change behavior.

Which mechanisms drive trust, and how to positively influence behavioral change in the current and future connected age? For example, people look for purpose (meaningfulness), autonomy and self-determination (personal development), but also for social contact and cooperation (within teams), and a deeper connection with the living environment as a whole (connectedness). Trust also helps to foster collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders, which can be crucial for achieving success in a rapidly changing and unpredictable world.

Interactive Masterclasses

Both lectures and masterclasses can be useful learning experiences, therefore we offer an interactive and more hands-on mix between the two. The interactive masterclasses do not only provide a dynamic and engaging learning experience about trust theory, but also allow participants to explore and discuss the different concepts of trust in future scenario thinking. Exploring trust in scenario planning is important because it helps to build confidence and consensus among stakeholders and trust in their developing relationships.
